Welcome and Join Us

Welcome to Sydney Uni Hockey Club! We would love to have you join us for the 2021 season. As Sydney’s largest women’s club, we have teams able to cater to all ages and skill levels. We are a very strong club and are currently premiers in the ML1, 3, 4 and 5 competitions.

We typically have 8 or 9 women’s teams in total each year and anyone and everyone is welcome to play for our club, you don’t have to be a student of the university. Join us and for any enquiries contact our Women’s VP, Edwina at womenshockey@suhc.asn.au

Training Times

Pre-season training has started for our premier squad. Please contact Director of Hockey Scott Barker for more details if you are interested.

Training times are still being finalised for the 2021 season so please check back again soon for more details. Your training time will also depend in which team you are selected.

Training Requirements:

Grades 1 & 2:  One compulsory and one optional evening session per week plus a gym session.

Grade 3: One compulsory evening session per week with an option to attend Premier Squad optional session.

Grade 4 and below: One evening session per week

Our women’s teams play in two competition leagues that are both played on Sunday. The Sydney Metro League is run by Sydney Women’s Hockey League (SWHL) and this is where our top six grades compete. In 2020, our teams made the grand finals in ML1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

The second competition is run by Sydney North Women’s Hockey Association (SNWHA) and caters for all our other teams, both competitive and social hockey. These games are played at Bruce Pryor Field Cumberland, Sydney Olympic Park, Ku-ring-gai, Pennant Hills, Ryde and Cintra. The finals for all grades are played in mid-September.

SUHC has a fantastic array of casual, social and formal functions for teams and the club throughout the year.  Additionally the club enjoys: a new player night, BBQs, tours around the local Glebe and Newtown establishments, formal dinners, trivia nights, university games, formal presentation and club dinners and derby days (great hockey, food, drinks and fun). We are going to have great camaraderie and fun with ten women’s teams!
