Welcome and Join Us

Welcome to the family-friendly Sydney Uni Hockey Club parents and juniors! We would love to have you join us: new players, current players, school boys and girls. We love taking everyone whether your junior is highly competitive, just likes being out playing sport or simply enjoys playing sport socially.  SUHC is a club for any junior looking to have a great time and play a sport with their friends and achieve their sporting goals. Anyone and everyone can play for Sydney Uni. We have had juniors develop into NSW Arrows and Australian Hockeyroos. Join us and for any enquiries contact Sarah at:

Registration

Registration is now open. Register now! However before you register confirm which age group your child is in. The cubs have a different rate to the older juniors.

  • U9 Cubs are born in 2010 or later
  • U11 Cubs are born in 2008 and 2009
  • U13 Juniors are born in 2006 and 2007
  • U15 Juniors are born in 2004 and 2005
  • U17 Juniors are born in 2002 and 2003

Come Try Hockey

SUHC is running “Come Try Hockey”. It will run every Thursday 5:30-6:30 at the Bruce Pryor Hockey Field. These sessions will be run by our Director of Hockey, Scott Barker, who will be assisted by our senior Premier Men’s and Women’s Squads. This program is open to both existing and new players. Give it a go, it is free and we provide the equipment.

Active Kids Vouchers

SUHC is a supporter of the State Government’s Active Kids program which provides a $100 voucher per calendar year for each student enrolled in school to encourage them to be involved in sport, fitness and active recreation activities. More details can be found at the Active Kids site. Vouchers can be redeemed with SUHC by forwarding the voucher details to the Treasurer after registration has been completed.  A refund will then be processed.

Competitions

SUHC Juniors enters teams in the North Area Junior Hockey competitions. Competitions run from late March until September, with games played on Friday nights or Saturday mornings. Venues include Venues include SUHC Bruce Pryor Field (Lidcombe), Ryde (Macquarie Park), Cintra (Concord), Pennant Hills Park and Kuringai High School.

** please note, an alternative skills session may be offered on another night at Camperdown if there is enough interest

Training Times

Training has commenced. Our Juniors have the option to attend one of the following training sessions:

  • Thursday 5:30-630PM at Bruce Pryor Hockey Field, Sydney Uni Cumberland Campus, Lidcombe
  • Tuesday 4:15-5:15PM at Camperdown Tennis Courts, Camperdown

Elite Athlete Program – A pathway for juniors

At Sydney Uni our goal is to create a fun and positive environment for junior players to develop their skills and love for hockey. Additionally, we aim to expose our players to role models who realise their sporting dreams whilst successfully completing their tertiary education through the Elite Athlete Program (EAP).

Social

SUHC has a fantastic array of casual, social and formal functions for teams and the club throughout the year.  Additionally the club enjoys: BBQs, lunches, formal dinners, trivia nights, social events.  We are going to have great camaraderie and fun on and off the field.

Uniforms

Just Hockey Sydney provides our  uniform and hockey equipment. This includes tops, skirts, shorts, socks and of course hocket shoes. They also have an excellent range of sticks, bags, goalie gear, gloves and masks. They are located in Olympic Park at the Hockey Centre. Be sure to mention you are from Sydney Uni and Robbie and his team will give you 10% off.
